Bristol enterprise for
all in words
"I have been moved by
the amount of energy and passion to day and I hopefully with this much
energy it will carry us through to actions"
"What’s been a revelation to me today is how great the situation is
here in Bristol, how much we are actually doing"
"I really enjoyed working with no time constraints. The topics went
from discussing the topics, to discussing the world and back to the
topic again. It was great to be surrounded by people who know what they
are talking about"
"I really enjoyed the interesting discussions and how the important points
will be channelled into actions"
"It’s been really great not to be stuck in one workshop (unless you
are the convenor!) and to have the freedom to be sucked into
discussions"
"We have recognised lots of problems in our city but also there are a
lot of good things going on"
"I have been surprised by how many different people from different
organisations there are here"
"I am fascinated by how many common themes have come out from the
various groups. The importance of recommendations for us to start to
work on ourselves as well as things for the treasury"
"I have enjoyed all aspects of the conversations, it’s been
fantastic, really opened my mind up"
"There have been lots of different topics but common links. I found
it good to be able to move around"
"I have a concern about basing everything on enterprise. Its
difficult"
"I would like to talk more about what needs to be there for small
businesses to happen in the first place. Not just business advice but
what are the other things that need to be there"
"The tools for enterprise, business tools, techniques, support, is
secondary to power, culture, motivation which is absolutely essential.
The organisations are less important"
"I run a social enterprise and it’s a mystery to me what an
entrepreneur is other than passion and bloody mindedness! 90% of social
entrepreneurs fail in the first year. Its good to know these things are
being addressed. We have had lots of support but didn’t always hear the
things we wanted to. We did experience some discrimination against us as
women that I don’t think would have happened if we had been men"
"I have enjoyed today but as I’m a linear person and time is usually
structured. It’s been very interesting"
"It’s been very good to take time out of the office, thinking time,
it’s been a surprise, the common themes"
"I have been in Bristol for 15 years. It’s been good to see people I
know and people I don’t know – things may take 15 years but don’t let
this curb your enthusiasm"
"I am very interested in how
the day has been constructed differently. What actions will come out of
this?"
"I have felt a bit odd here as a sole trader and having just tried my
test trading. I have had lots of great support and some not so
supportive – that’s personal. It’s been interesting and I am aware there
is even more support out there than I was aware of – but I am still
looking for money"
"We have started some things already, there is a joint bid going on. I
really want to thank the entrepreneurs, your input has been something I
haven’t heard before, its been really helpful and made me think
differently"
